“Watercolors can lend themselves to mood, light, contrast, and so many other expressions! I feel such contentment and happiness using them.”

About Me

I grew up in East Tennessee in the small rural town of Andersonville. I have three adult children, one grandson, and a special fur baby named Chet! I have always had a keen interest in art and find no greater joy than creating something beautiful and interesting. However my path to watercolor painting was a rather long one.

I married young, then marriage and motherhood became my passion. Many years have come to pass, during which I also became a preschool teacher. I retired in 2021 and now live in middle Tennessee. I had many friends and family asking, “What are you going to do all day?” I said, “Whatever I want!” Haha! Here is where my painting life began!

The Beginning

After trying several mediums of paint I felt drawn to watercolors. I am a very detailed watercolorist and have had other artists suggest I use fluid acrylics. Perhaps some day I will. But I truly love the way watercolors can capture the light and I can achieve gorgeous results through layers of paint. Watercolors can lend themselves to mood, light, contrast, and so many other expressions! I feel such contentment and happiness using them.

Creative Process

I am inspired by endless things. I never set out to create a painting that will be loved by others. I create a painting that speaks to me and if it speaks to others, how exciting! My process isn’t as simple as choosing my paper, colors, brushes, and other tools! There’s so much more to it! I am constantly mixing and testing every color I apply, changing this, changing that. Very rarely does a painting turn out exactly as I had planned. That’s absolutely okay. Quite possibly, failures have been my best tutors!
